Fatshark Battery Case for 18650 Batteries
thingiverse
This is a simple model I sketched up to enclose a basic 2 cell 18650 battery pack for my Fatsharks. 18650 Lithium Ion batteries are extremely common and if you have spare rechargeable gear lying around, chances are you can repurpose some cells from it. Official Fatshark batteries retail for about $24 and have serious quality control issues - many reports of failed cells that I experience myself. I managed to scavenge all the parts so this only cost me my time. Fatshark goggles take a 5.5mm x 2.1mm barrel jack. To keep the profiles ergonomic, search eBay for right angle adapters. To make the balance charge adapter, you need JST - XH pigtails or headers and crimps and some 26awg silicone wire. Pigtails are quite common on eBay; just search for 2s balance connectors. There's about a .5 mm relief on the top plate to ensure it mates with the case. Post-Printing I'm using an old IBM laptop battery pack as the donor. Cracked open, we find six x 18650 3.7 Lithium Ion Cells Removed and separated 2.1mm barrel jack and balance connector soldered in Printing the case Tight fit Compared to a 3s 850mah I originally had Finished case I designed this model in Sketchup.
