Fate-Led

Fate-Led made its debut at the Royal Academy in 1892 with a striking display of words: "Fate leading, she must needs go on and on Blindly, yet fearing not, till the goal be won." The artwork's premiere sparked significant interest due to its mysterious subject matter, unsettling imagery, and highly realistic approach. Albert Toft honed his skills as a potter at Wedgwood and studied sculpture under Edouard Lanteri's guidance at the National Art Training School in London. His distinctive broad, soft modeling style reflects Lanteri's influence combined with Alfred Gilbert's symbolic preoccupations.
