Fat Shark 18650 Battery Pack

I got fed up with my Fat Shark Lipo and decided to tackle the 18650 battery mod, but I was nervous about soldering directly onto the battery because I really didn't want a battery to blow up in my face. That's when this project came into being. This case is designed for battery contacts to be soldered on so that no soldering iron ever touches the batteries. There's a channel down the center for the second cell balance wire to go through. After all wires are soldered and working, you can then fill the cable tracks with hot glue to seal everything in place. The best part about this case is that if you have a separate 18650 battery charger, you only need one case and when the batteries die, you can simply swap them out. There are many ways to mount the lid, my way is to drill two small holes on opposite corners and use heat set nuts on the bottom part, then secure the lid with small bolts. If there's interest, I'll design a new version that has room for a battery level indicator.
