On Mac OS X, using PyPy speeds up STL file slicing by two to five times when combined with ReplicatorG and Skeinforge. This enhancement is facilitated through an alternative Python interpreter. A pre-compiled version is available for download; however, it's only compatible with Mac OS X. To implement this feature, follow these steps: 1) Download the disk image and open it by double-clicking on it. 2) Drag the 'pypy-osx' folder to your Applications folder. 3) In ReplicatorG Preferences, click the 'Advanced' tab, then 'Select Python Interpreter.' Browse to the pypy binary in the folder you copied in step 2: Applications -> pypy-osx -> bin -> pypy. Close preferences and enjoy faster slicing! This method is compatible with all Intel-based Macs and doesn't require Xcode. Notable time reductions include a mini Barrel-O-Monkeys toy from 44 minutes to 4 minutes, a 'Snake' from 2:02 to 46 seconds, and a 'Bracelet' from 24 minutes to 7 minutes!
