Fastener - Force Activated Release - Breakaway Lanyard
thingiverse
I'm designing a fastener that automatically releases when subjected to a specific level of force. My goal is to create a series that can handle up to 30 pounds or 14 kilograms. V1.1 currently releases at approximately 8 pounds or 3.6 kilograms. V1.2 will release at around 10 pounds, which translates to 4.5 kilograms. V1.3 is designed for applications where too much force could cause damage and features a release point of 12 pounds, equivalent to 5.44 kilograms. Potential uses include attaching items that might be easily damaged by excessive force. The fastener also serves as a safety feature to prevent choking hazards or entanglements. If you have any ideas or suggestions, I'd love to hear them. My ultimate objective is to make it possible for public schools to install various devices without needing agency approval - a costly process that often involves bureaucratic hurdles.
