Our club has taken on a challenging project, building our own turnouts from scratch. To make this task more manageable, I designed custom ties that perfectly fit the Fast Tracks templates for #6 fixtures. To streamline construction and ensure accurate alignment, we assemble these complex components completely on our workbench before laying them out on the layout. This method has significantly reduced the time required to complete each turnout. During assembly, I have found PETG filament to be an excellent choice for creating track feeds or fixing points, as it can withstand higher temperatures without degrading. When it comes to bonding the track to the ties, Pliobond cement proves to be a reliable option. We use 1/16 PC board ties and have observed that the bond between these metal ties and plastic ones holds exceptionally well. Interestingly, some club members have also experimented with using CA glue as an alternative adhesive, reporting satisfactory results.
