Fast Phone Docker -- Car Mount
thingiverse
This is a mount for the Fast Phone Grip. It utilizes a ball-joint attached to a glove-box clip that secures inside a 2001 SLK glovebox. The piece tailored to my car is intended to be replaceable, allowing this design to serve as a basis for other vehicles. If you choose to customize it, please let me know, and I'll feature a link to your thing on my main page. The nut on the ball-joint side snaps off (it's held by only a few .4mm strands). This mount should be printed in ABS for use within a car (PLA and PETG are not recommended due to warping or deforming when exposed to heat). ABS will shrink in the heat, but only by around 2%, making it acceptable for this part of the model. One crucial note is that when placing the phone in or out of the gripper, there's no added torque to the mounting mechanism, which means this design does not impose any undue stress on whatever it attaches to. This makes it possible to modify it to attach to a car vent without risking damage to the plastic. Demo: https://youtu.be/3PtNP4OJGVw
