Fast Filament Clip

Fast Filament Clip

The clip securely holds the filament in place, allowing for easy attachment and removal. The gap is narrower than Madox's original design, which was slightly loose on my spools of filament. To reduce the elephant's foot effect, I added a small chamfer to the bottom edges. Printing with PETG can provide a bit more flexibility before the clip breaks. I've noticed that PLA tends to deform over time, causing the gap to widen. One of my previously printed clips (1.8 mm gap) now measures over 3 mm. Using PETG should help prevent this issue. An even tighter version with a 1 mm gap has been added. Printing this in PETG should produce perfect results for any spool. Recent feedback from maker _alexculli_ suggested that the clip didn't fit well on some spools filled to the edge of the flange. To address this, I shortened the part that extends below the filament groove. This modification should help improve the fit. Additionally, testing has shown that the tighter version works well in PLA, even on my thickest spools. As a result, the standard version now features the 1.8 mm gap. If you require more flexibility or are using very brittle PLA, printing the wider version may still be necessary. Some of my Fillamentum spools have a 2mm thickness (beyond the 5mm outer rim). To accommodate these, I've added tighter versions with a 1.8 mm gap. The standard version remains at 2.5 mm. Printing with PETG or other flexible materials may also make the tighter version suitable for thicker flanged spools. If you decide to create this design, please post a Make!
