The farvahar pendant- Wikipedia Fravashi refers to the Avestan language term used in the Zoroastrian concept for an individual's personal spirit, regardless if they are deceased, living or not yet born. The fravashi sends its urvan, often translated as 'soul', into the physical world to fight between good and evil forces. On the fourth day after death, it is believed that the urvan returns to its originating fravashi, gathering all the experiences encountered in the material world. These collected memories aid future generations in their battle against evil. Zoroastrian traditions dating back to the 9th/10th century have kept Avestan language usage consistent as Middle Persian continues with forms like fravard, fravahr and fravash in works known as the Pahlavi books. In Zoroastrian practices, the final days of each year are dedicated to these fravashis; special attention is paid to these entities by naming after them during key points throughout the calendar year, specifically during months which they oversee. The symbol associated with a winged disc in this ancient faith signifies depiction as a true reflection of one's spirit fravashi within.
