Farscape DRD eye unit
thingiverse
The Diagnostic Repair Droid, a staple from Farscape, was once available as a resin kit on Goldenarmor.com but falls short in accuracy. A glaring error lies in its oversized eye unit. This design is meant to correct that flaw. Print and paint the eyeball hemisphere using clear or translucent filament unless you can track down a 2.1cm diameter hemisphere elsewhere. The main body should be matte or satin black, with black filament serving as an acceptable substitute. The central hole has been sized for 3/8" (1cm) styrene tube from Evergreen Scale models to accommodate the eye stalk's corrugated tubing. Alternatively, you can use split wire organizer tubing; however, a more suitable option proved to be air hose from an inflatable exercise ball, which also came with handy tube connectors that can be glued onto the DRD shell for easy eye stalk attachment and removal.
