Fante /Baule People Fertility Doll Figure
sketchfab
Fertility dolls can be discovered among the Fante people in Southern Ghana and the Baule people of Southeastern Cote d'Ivoire. Crafted from carved wood, they feature a rich light brown washed patina and a simple oval head shape with a lined coiffure that includes a semi-circular motif at the hairline. The almond-shaped eyes are painted with white kaolin, while cheek scarification adds texture to the doll's features. A small mouth with corner scarification is accompanied by a ringed neck coated with kaolin and an undefined body form.
