Fantasy Double Blade
thingiverse
After crafting my own sword, I was tasked by my mother with designing one for her. She requested a fantasy sword, which diverged significantly from my initial creation. This double-bladed sword can disassemble into two single-bladed swords. The design incorporates room for wooden dowels that are 5mm in diameter and 300mm long. To secure them properly, it's essential to sand down the ends slightly. The dowels fit extremely tightly, requiring a rubber mallet or a jewelry hammer to tap them firmly into place. I discovered that using a jewelry hammer greatly facilitated this process. The end result is a very durable sword. Notably, I included space at the hilt for a door catcher, specifically an Amerock 0.5 in. H x 1.1 in. W x 1.4 in. D Zinc Steel Roller Catch available on Ace Hardware's website. To secure this component, I utilized M3 machine screws with a diameter of 3mm and length adjusted accordingly. Due to the small size of these parts, I found it necessary to hold the nut in place with tweezers while screwing the screw into position. Following this step, covering the holes with tape and painting over them completes the assembly. All design components were created using milimeters for precision. If needed, I can also create a replacement part for the central connection piece to eliminate any metal usage, allowing the sword to be taken to conventions without violating rules regarding metal parts.
