
Fanbus/Accessory Power Splitter

I'm still figuring out what to do with all my permanently-powered fans since going from an all-in-one board GT2560 to Mega+RAMPS left me in a bit of a pickle. The issue is that the GT2560 has dedicated fan sockets, whereas the RAMPS only gives you a 12V aux which won't cut it for my setup. To top it off, I needed to power accessories like fan controllers and other doodads. And on top of all this, I didn't want to have to break out the wallet and buy anything special, so everything was done with what could be printed or salvaged from around the house. It's a bit rough and ready, but somehow it just works... This setup can be used with normal PC fans, Dupont connectors, and even XH2.54 if you're feeling adventurous. The spacing is such that you can usually get away with mixing and matching different types of connectors. In addition to the printed parts, I needed a few other things: A soldering iron and some solder to keep everything connected. Ten standard 2.54mm PCB pin headers - five sets of two. It's easier if you link the twos together. One or two paperclips to help with connections. Some wiring to take power from your 12V-aux to the splitter. You can use twincore, individual stranded wires soldered direct, bought components, or do what I did and salvage a power lead from a two-pin fan. Please note that you're on your own if you blow up your printer, set your house on fire, or anything else that might happen. I've tried to make it solid and safe-ish (because I don't want to blow up -my- printer either), but take care anyway.
