I mounted an extruder fan enclosure on my 3D printer. Initially, I hardwired my extruder fan directly to the 12V output on my power supply after purchasing a dedicated part cooling fan. Nevertheless, I was frustrated that it continued running even when the extruder wasn't in use. To rectify this issue, I installed a toggle switch inline with the positive wire going to the fan, allowing me easy access to turn the fan off from the front of the printer.
