Fan Surround for I2 Carriage

Photographs showcase the original design "R1." The uploaded files represent an updated version that incorporates a thicker mounting bracket and a connection between the end of the main body. Each new file is labeled with an "R2." This cooling fan shroud surrounds the hot end, ensuring a uniform distribution of air around the extruder using standard HVAC methods. By directing the air directly down, rather than aiming it near the nozzle, this shroud facilitates both cooling and bonding of interface layers, resulting in stronger parts. Both ABS and PLA can be used with this fan. The fan shroud pictured features a layer of foil as a heat shield (shiny side out). A 3M Super 77 adhesive was applied between the aluminum foil and the ABS. For optimal results, visit a "dollar store" to find thin, inexpensive foil that will reflect the most radiant heat. The provided STL and model files include a sliced g-code output of the fan surround. This code features a high-quality raft and suitable support for printing with ABS at 250C. A 0.5mm nozzle is recommended for this print, which will fit on a standard 200mm x 200mm heated bed and stay within the Z axis limit of 75mm. The fan's shape resembles a cornucopia, complete with a slit at the bottom. The input side is spacious and tapers to the narrow end of the cornucopia, increasing velocity and lowering pressure to achieve uniform distribution. This concept may seem counterintuitive; however, verify the relationship between pressure and velocity using Bernoulli's equation if necessary.
