Fan support for Geeetech i3 Pro W
cults3d
New : second version ! This very cheap DIY printer gives nice prints, except for bridges and overhangs which are very poorly rendered (see comparative pictures). The solution is to cool the filament as soon as it is extruded, yet the kit does not contain a fan to do so ... So I created a bracket, to be used with a standard 12v radial Air Fan 50x50x15mm that will fit on top. The bracket is fixed by 2 M3 screws on the front of the frame carrying the extruder. It is adjustable in height in order to blow precisely on the extrusion. The 2 cables (+ and -) of the fan will be connected on the PWM socket of the motherboard with a 3 pins JST-PH socket. Finally, in your slicer, check the box "Enable Extrusion Cooling" (or similar definition).
