Fan Speed Regulator Automation
thingiverse
This is a part of my home automation project. I recently installed a ventilation system and wanted to control the fan speed via my Smartthings system, so I looked for a Z-wave or Zigbee fan speed controller. However, this was difficult to find, so I opted for a manual knob instead, but there's always a workaround. Since I had an ESP8266, I started investigating how to connect it to Smartthings. ST_Anything proved to be the solution - this amazing device handler allows you to link almost any inexpensive sensor/relay to your smart home system, and I finally understand the potential of IoT. I removed the manual knob and inserted a new part. I attached a servo arm to the existing servo arm piece. Additionally, I glued the SG09 servo to the servo mount section. I installed the servo mount component. After configuring it, I connected it to my ESP8266 board, and voila - my manual knob can now be controlled from my phone and integrated into automations. A video of the knob in action is attached: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xUWwEs0FlE My full smart home ventilation system explanation will be posted on my DIY blog: http://www.diygarageprojects.com/
