The spark for creating cute lil mushroom toy figurines in three body types ignited in June 2012! As I weighed the prospect of setting up as a vendor at Toronto's Fan Expo, I yearned to craft something that would perfectly capture the essence of the event. The masses descending upon conventions like this one were clad in outlandish attire, donning personas from beloved TV characters and comic heroes. Yet, it was the fans who boldly defied conventional fandom, opting for avant-garde interpretations that really caught my eye – folks who'd arrive at costume parties as an entire potato or transform into a cardboard box, turning their passion into truly unique forms of artistic expression. Inspired by this infectious creativity, I brought forth the Fan Shrooms: small yet vibrant mushroom toys embodying the geek/nerd spirit in all its glory. This idea seamlessly extended itself to encompass an array of other eccentricities, such as vegetables and offbeat themes – endless possibilities just waiting to be brought into existence!
