Fan Pull
thingiverse
I once thought my idea was uniquely mine alone, but further investigation revealed that others had encountered similar problems in the past - waking up at night to turn on the fan, only to unwittingly flood their bedroom with harsh light. This is how I approached the issue. In my case, my ceiling fans feature standard pull-chains with a pull-chain coupling clasp at the end, which this design perfectly accommodates. This earlier model was designed to accept it seamlessly from the start, but an early version had a wider hole at the bottom, so I opted for a screw cap instead, creating a more pleasant overall look. The screw cap isn't strictly necessary, but it makes the design much more visually appealing. I printed this project on a Prusa i3 MK3S @ 0.1mm layer height using PLA, and to my delight, the screw cap fit perfectly and snugly enough that I don't have to worry about it coming loose on its own. The design does require supports, but the separate cap helps reduce their overall height slightly.
