For PLA printing, extra cooling fans make all the difference in producing better prints. They enable sharper prints and significantly enhance the ability to bridge gaps. After trying out several 40mm fans mounted directly to the print head, I was less than impressed with this setup - it added unnecessary weight to the print carriage and hindered my view of the printing process, particularly during critical first layers. I then decided to attach a computer fan to the front of the machine using duct tape. Adding a simple 12v AC adapter did the trick, and the results were excellent.
