My Fan has a lean that really gets under my skin. It's a clear sign it's not sitting properly. Since the Heat Sink is cut away in the corners, the fan can't pull back into place square. After careful thought, I realized we needed to fill the gap, and thus the spacers were born. I've made sure the bottoms are flat, which makes inserting screws much easier, as the spacers sit directly on the base at the perfect height. It's puzzling that Anet doesn't provide these as standard fittings - it seems like a no-brainer.
