This sculpture by Sint-Niklaas sculptor Werner Heyndrickx depicts three abstract figures merging almost seamlessly into each other. As a renowned artist, Heyndrickx was deeply affected by the Great War as it ravaged his hometown during his childhood. His sculptures convey a sense of vulnerability and urgency, serving to protest the brutality of war. Emerging from the base of the sculpture like sprouts from the earth, these figures embody a collective identity, intensely interconnected and unbreakable. Characteristic of Heyndrickx's distinctive style is the compact, monolithic quality of his subjects. Originally modeled in plaster, these sculptures underwent a transformation after the collapse of his workshop beneath rubble. Collaborating with AZ Nikolaas, Heyndrickx cast the remaining statues in bronze, preserving their essence for future generations. This object is part of "Scan The World", a groundbreaking initiative launched by MyMiniFactory.
