Family Group (LH 269) is a significant sculpture created by Henry Moore. It marked the beginning of his large-scale bronze work, featuring multiple castings. Produced for Barclay School in Stevenage, it emerged from drawings in the 1930s through a series of models to bronze castings between 1950 and 51. This piece was also one of the last major sculptures developed directly from preliminary drawings; Moore later worked primarily with found objects, maquettes, and models. The sculpture showcases a group of three human figures, representing a typical nuclear family consisting of a man, woman, and small child. The two adults are seated on a bench, cradling the child between them. The figures are slightly smaller than life size. Currently, five castings from the 1950s are owned by their original recipients: Barclay School, the Tate Gallery, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and the Hakone Open-Air Museum in Japan, with a later replica located at the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena. Another copy can be found at the Henry Moore Foundation in Perry Green, Hertfordshire. This object is part of the "Scan The World" project.
