Fallout Holodisk/Holotape Replica

Fallout Holodisk/Holotape Replica

thingiverse

This Holotape/Holodisk replica, inspired by Fallout 3/New Vegas' in-game texture, features a rectangular design based on the 128x128 source image. To ensure accuracy, some parts were improvised due to limited detail. Designed for a 4mm tape from a conventional audio cassette, it has a functional mechanism that could, with effort, create a working player. Check out the inside pic with installed tape and see an experimental test video here. To assemble, print two sets of reel halves and guides, along with other parts. No support is needed during printing. Fasten together using 4 M3 screws (6-10mm long) for a completed, operational item requiring a cassette tape and either an extension spring or small rubber band. Update: Success! With parts from an old Walkman and drill, it plays - albeit roughly. A proper player would yield better results. Watch the test video at this link.
