Fallout Board Game Magnetic Hex Holder, Stackable
thingiverse
I adore playing the Fallout board game, but I abhor it when the hex tiles get jumbled around and the playing field gets disheveled. This is a challenge because throughout the game you'll be flipping tiles frequently, and each time you flip a tile there's a considerable chance you'll push things out of alignment. My resolution was to design a set of stackable hex tile holders that utilize magnets and small protrusions/indentations to remain properly aligned. I employ 1/4in x 1/8in x 1/8in neodymium magnets glued into place, and it functions remarkably well. One word of warning: BE AWARE OF YOUR POLARITY! In my initial three holders I inadvertently glued the magnets in with their positive poles all pointing outward and all negative poles pointing inward; my rationale for doing that was because I'm extremely, exceptionally inept. You should glue your magnets in using alternating polarity, as illustrated in the accompanying diagram.
