To prevent pool pump damage, standard pool hoses should be detached every morning if they've been left attached overnight. Suction alone holds the two pieces together, causing them to fall apart as soon as the pump is turned off. Simply plug the cap part into your skimmer and attach it to the end of your hose with the other piece. Once you start up the pump and adjust the power level, press the two parts together firmly.
