Fake VGA cable cover - print in place edition - TPU/PLA
thingiverse
I liked IonutF's version of the cable cover but didn't like the idea of permanently attaching it to my iphone charger. I modified this to have a hidden channel in the back like other cable protectors so you can freely take the cord in and out. This works really well with blue TPU to hide the seam on the other side, but I included a more forgiving PLA version that has more wiggle room (just be sure to hide that side to fool people) A few other modifications - I increased the knob diameter inside so they're a little stronger and don't rattle and play as much - the original version was prone to snapping off. If your printer is calibrated just right this should print in one go, just need to lightly twist each knob free and it should be able to spin, even in TPU. I really really increased the size of the cable channel to fit more modern lightning cables - and eventually USB-C when that happens. Should fit most official apple cords, but feel free to modify further. I printed this standing straight up with a 30 x 10 x 2mm support block in Cura centered at (0,0,0), but I've also had some success printing flat on the side.
