Fake Camera
thingiverse
Do you want to invite burglars into your garden with your wireless camera? You know that most available cameras aren't encrypted, so a burglar can drive by and watch your home on their monitor. They'll easily spot if you're away or if there's a dog in the yard, making it simple for them to find the weakest window to break in. Some WiFi cameras use the UPnP mechanism of your firewall, allowing anyone with an internet connection to access your home security feed. Weak default passwords and software bugs also provide full access to burglar networks. They can even watch you while you're sleeping or out with your girlfriend. A camera won't stop burglars; they'll come when they want to. Watching your garden day and night can be a hassle, especially if the motion detection system alerts you to every stray cat or fox. And then there's the issue of privacy - who wants their boss, NSA, or Trump's surveillance team watching them? Here's a simple solution: a fake camera that flashes like a real one. The LED flashlight runs on weak batteries and lasts for months without needing replacement. You can even use new batteries to make it last years. Add a voltage doubler to run an ultrabright LED with a 1.2V battery, or use two batteries and a blue or white LED. If you want to convince burglars that your camera is real, add a fake cable and they'll be none the wiser. This setup provides full privacy without breaking the bank. Printing the design in ABS or PLA shouldn't be a problem - I've tested it and made sure there's a 0.5mm gap between the lid and case for easy removal. Different size STLs are available, with numbers indicating the dimensions in millimeters.
