Fairy skeleton wing
thingiverse
Hi folks! First, 2 thumbs up to @ValravenFR for the fairy skeleton (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5239200). Honestly, this model is awesome! The amount of supports is kinda crazy and scary as well (took me few hours to remove them), but everything went well. Just be patient and it'll go smoothly! I found his/her art on a reddit page and saw that a mold was used to make the wings. It took me a A LOT of trials and errors, but I'm very happy with the final results. See below a little tutorial on how I did. Material needed : - printed wing molds - acetate sheets - a tool to emboss the acetate (I used the plastic spatula from the printer) - some shade paints (Nuln Oil and Seraphim Sepia; both from Citadel) - gloss varnish Tutorial: 1. print the molds (simply mirror the file for the other side and scale down to 50% for the littles wings) (you should have 4 molds - 1/wing) 2. cut the acetate as big as the mold 3. hold the acetate tight onto the mold so it doesn't move (you can use some trigger clamps) 4. using your tool, emboss the acetate. 5. paint as you wish, then varnish! Do not hesitate to contact me if you have any question! Send feedback and post your makes!
