The pieces in this section are based on existing pieces (mostly the orthodox set), but give some extra ability or slightly restrict the moves somehow.Generally, such pieces can be represented in a game with the regular form of the piece. However, occasionally the modified and unmodified versions can appear in the same game. At other times it can be helpful to simply have the modified version on hand as a reminder that a specified rule is in place regarding that piece.
