Fairphone Case

The Ultimaker hails from the Netherlands, while the Fairphone also originates from the Netherlands. Colorfabb's material, however, is a no-brainer - the first prototype had to be fashioned in Dutch Orange! The base model is essentially a bare cover. Stamping holes into Blender isn't a daunting task. Note that it's against the law to publish the model featuring the Fairphone logo until they unveil their planned community logo. Don't ask for it, and refrain from publishing one yourself. However, feel free to create one for personal use. I'm still refining the details. The dimensions are extremely crucial, as the case must fit snugly. On the bottom, the case merely overlaps the camera, while the top edge is precisely enough to rise slightly above the level of the display glass. I'd love to receive feedback - perhaps minor discrepancies in calibration or mechanical variations might lead to different results. To stamp patterns, start by using the background image in Inkscape to arrange your shapes around the phone's camera and speaker, ensuring you hit the width-to-height ratio. Fill the shapes and combine them into a single curve before exporting. Make certain the shapes are closed (otherwise they won't fill). Import the base STL file and then the SVG. Scale: I had to enlarge the curve by 500 - simply select the curve and press "s x 500 <enter> s y 500 <enter>". Flip it with "r y 180", move it slightly in the negative Z direction, and position it properly on the case. Change to edit mode using TAB, then select all triangles with "a" and extrude them with ALT-e. Draw the extrusion through the case. Next, switch back to object mode using TAB. Select the case, add a modifier (the wrench symbol) "Boolean", choose the operation "Intersect", and pick the curve from the Object dropdown. Now hide the curve object and you're done.
