This revamped Fairchild F-27 model, available for use, underwent complete reconstruction in 2016, featuring enhanced geometry, new textures, and added features. Nearly at scale, it boasts intricate external detailing. The model comes with materials for the displayed livery and animateable components like ailerons, flaps, elevators, rudder, propellers, landing gear, and landing gear doors. In multiple formats, these models are derived from Fokker's 1950 design of the F-27 twin-engine turbo-prop commercial passenger airliner, which first took flight in 1955. Licensed by Fairchild Hiller for production in the US, the initial F-27 prototype was slightly tail heavy, necessitating fuselage extension and seating capacity increase. West Coast Airlines received the first operational F-27 in September 1958, with numerous operators flying these aircraft. Serving as frontline airliners for small airlines, they demonstrated exceptional performance. Retirement of Fairchild F-27s started in the 1980s, but some still operate today. The F-27 paved the way for the Fairchild Hiller 227, a stretched version, and further design developments like the Fokker F-50 and F-60s.
