The Fairchild F-27 model on offer is a recent, 2016 rebuild boasting enhanced geometry and textures alongside additional features. Constructed with near scale dimensions and detailed exterior, this model includes animateable parts like flaps, propellers, landing gear, etc., and comes in multiple formats. The Fairchild F-27 is a variant of the Fokker F-27, a twin-engine turbo-prop commercial passenger aircraft designed by Fokker in 1950 and first flown in 1955. Licensed for production by Fairchild Hiller in the U.S., it had a tail heavy prototype which was redesigned to stretch the fuselage, adding extra capacity and seats. The first operational F-27 entered service with West Coast Airlines in September 1958, and these aircraft were widely used by various operators. They served as frontline airliners for small carriers and performed exceptionally well. However, they began to be retired from the 1980s, although some remain in operation today. The F-27's successor was the Fairchild Hiller 227, while later developments included the Fokker F-50 and F-60 series.
