The revamped Fairchild F-27 model, showcased here, underwent a complete overhaul in 2016 to enhance its quality with upgraded geometry, new textures and features. This intricately crafted model is built close to scale, meticulously detailed externally, and comes complete with materials for the depicted livery. An array of animateable features such as ailerons, flaps, elevators, rudder, propellers, landing gear, and landing gear doors adds realism to this model. The package includes several file formats. The Fairchild F-27 is a variant of Fokker's twin-engine turbo-prop commercial passenger aircraft, F-27, designed in 1950 and took its maiden flight in 1955. It was manufactured by the Fairchild Hiller companies in the US under a license from Fokker using the F-27 blueprint. The prototype of F-27 had slight tail heaviness, which led to a redesign that stretched the fuselage by three feet, shifting the center of gravity and accommodating three more seats. The first operational F-27 was operated by West Coast Airlines in September 1958. This aircraft was flown by numerous operators and served as frontline airliners for small airlines, performing remarkably well. Retirement of Fairchild F-27s began in the 1980s; however, some are still operational today. The F-27 paved the way for the development of Hiller 227, an extended version of this aircraft, as well as Fokker F-50 and F-60, which were further design derivatives of the F-27.
