This Fairchild F-27 model, available in various formats, underwent a complete rebuild in 2016 with enhanced geometry, textures, and features. It's built near to scale, with meticulous attention to detail externally. The fully textured model comes with materials for the displayed livery and is equipped with animateable features like ailerons, flaps, elevators, rudder, propellers, landing gear, and landing gear doors. The Fairchild F-27 is a version of the iconic Fokker F-27, a twin-engine turbo-prop commercial passenger airliner designed in 1950 and debuting its first flight in 1955. Under license by Fokker, it was produced by Fairchild Hiller in the US using the F-27 design. The initial prototype experienced tail heaviness, prompting a redesign that lengthened the fuselage and added three more seats. West Coast Airlines received the first operational Fairchild F-27 in September 1958, with many operators flying these aircraft. Serving as frontline airliners for small airlines, they demonstrated exceptional performance. Retirement of the Fairchild F-27s began in the 1980s, though some are still in service today. The F-27's legacy includes the development of the Fairchild Hiller 227, an extended version, and further design advancements like the Fokker F-50 and F-60 series, all stemming from the original F-27 design.
