This revamped Fairchild F-27 model, available here, underwent a complete reconstruction in 2016 with enhanced geometry, new textures, and additional features. It boasts near-scale dimensions and meticulous external detailing. The model comes with textured materials for the depicted livery and animates features such as ailerons, flaps, elevators, rudder, propellers, landing gear, and landing gear doors. Several format files accompany these models. The Fairchild F-27 is a variant of the Fokker F-27, a twin-engine turbo-prop commercial passenger aircraft designed in 1950 and first flown in 1955. Manufactured by Fairchild Hiller under license from Fokker in the US, it featured initial tail-heavy design, which led to fuselage stretching by three feet for better balance and increased seating capacity. The first operational F-27 was deployed with West Coast Airlines in September 1958. This aircraft served numerous operators and performed exceptionally well. Gradual retirement began in the 1980s, but some remain in service today. The F-27 inspired the Fairchild Hiller 227, a stretched version, as well as further design developments: the Fokker F-50 and F-60.
