The revamped Fairchild F-27 model showcased here boasts enhanced quality with updated geometry, new textures, and additional features post a 2016 rebuild. Constructed nearly to scale, it exhibits intricate detailing externally and includes materials for the depicted livery. It offers animatable features such as ailerons, flaps, elevators, rudder, propellers, landing gear, and landing gear doors. Available in multiple format files, this model embodies an iconic aircraft from the 1950s - the Fairchild F-27, a variant of Fokker's F-27 twin-engine turbo-prop commercial passenger airliner. Designed by Fokker in 1950 and taking to the skies for the first time in 1955, it was licensed for production by Fairchild Hiller in the US using Fokker's design. The prototype underwent a redesign to address tail-heaviness, resulting in a lengthened fuselage and increased seating capacity. West Coast Airlines was the first operator of this aircraft in September 1958, and it served with numerous others. Its performance was outstanding, particularly for small airlines. However, Fairchild F-27s started retiring from service in the 1980s; some are still operational today. The F-27's legacy led to the development of Fairchild Hiller 227, a stretched version, and further design evolutions like Fokker F-50 and F-60s.
