The FAI_M, a second variant since 1934, was built upon the GAZ-M1 car's chassis with a 60L fuel tank. The FAI was constructed using the GAZ A chassis, a replica of the US Ford A; however, this chassis proved to be its main weakness as most commercial car chassis lacked the power to accommodate substantial armour or firepower for military use. German armoured cars overcame this issue by designing chassis intended for both civilian and military vehicles. However, those based on commercial car chassis were mostly road-bound, with minimal armour and weaponry. The FAI featured a single 7.62mm DT machine gun in a rotating turret, providing protection against shell fragments and small arms fire but failing against cannon or heavy machine-gun fire, as well as mines. Replaced by the similar BA-20, FAIs were initially used during early combat on the Eastern Front of World War II. The 3D model is available in various versions: 1) Mental ray 3.13 with Arch & Design Material in 3ds Max 2016; 2) Scanline rendering in 3ds Max 2016; and 3) exported as FBX and OBJ files from 3ds Max 2016. The model includes layers for easy management of individual components, and the turret is animatable to suit specific positions. However, polygonal Ngons are utilized in the model's construction.
