Factotum - Boxx Design Challenge

In the Boxx future workstation design challenge, a unique concept has been presented that combines elements from the designer's previous two ideas while also introducing new features. The design boasts a slightly dished top that serves as a tray for small items like USB flash drives and provides space for larger items such as external hard drives without direct contact. Additionally, it includes a front bar for cables to rest with a nice relief or be velcroed, which can be detached if desired. This feature could be mounted by a simple screw at the top of each end or through a snap-fit mechanism. The back of the enclosure has also been tweaked to allow attachment options there. Another unique element is a short rod in front that pulls out from the top left corner, allowing temporary hanging of headphones, coiled cables, or even a mini clip-on light. The front top corners are finger-friendly, making it easy to lift or move the tower. Furthermore, built-in handles on the sides facilitate easy transporting. This design draws inspiration from the previous concepts - BOXXite (cable management) and Vulcan (built-in handles). Copyright © 2014 Krista Casal.
