Problem: Create a desk organizer or component that classmates would be able to use to make learning from home easier. Whether it’s an organizer for a makeshift desk, an object to keep all their writing utensils in place, or something to help you stay on top of all your school tasks, the challenge is theirs to take! Criteria: I want there to be a place where you can hold your phone or sticky notes. I want it to be able to hold 4 pencils, 1 highlighter, 1 pen, and a sharpie. I want a place where all pens of any brand can be clipped onto. Constraints: Must be at most 4” by 4” by 4” dimensions. Research: Standard Post-it notes are 3” by 3” by 5/16.” Standard #2 Pencils have a diameter of 7-8mm. The diameter of a highlighter is 3/4 of an inch. The width of all Iphones are around 3 inches. Brainstorm: The sticky notes will be at the very bottom of the design. The phone will be angled on a stand so that it won't fall off. I want tubes to hold pencils so it is easy to keep organized. In my process of my CAD, I realized some of my measurements in the technical drawing were missing. I went back and measured them to put them in CAD. Also with this first project, there are some inconsistencies with my technical drawing skills that I hope to sharpen as the year goes on. This includes drawing circles with a free hand and properly measuring so my process with CAD will be easier. Since it is the first project of the year, I just dealt with these problems in CAD. New Advancements/Problems: I created three more tubes for pencils to be stored. I didn’t realize how much space I had until I was in CAD. I steepened the phone mount, Hopefully, phones will be able to stand on this mount without falling. The highlighter tube is touching the extra supplies box. Concern: My main concern is that “Is this shape able to be 3D printed without falling over in the 3D printer. With the last two photos, I chose to get rid of the sticky note holder so there is no risk when using the 3D printer.
