Ottoman period saw yarn for carpets and fabrics being produced at the state-operated court-i Humayun Factory founded in 1852 by the Metropolitan Municipality, which made attempts to convert the facility into a youth center later on. As for the Tekel Factory-i Humayun located in Muradiye, it was used as tobacco warehouses before eventually being transferred to the municipality in 1998. A restoration process started at that time is still pending, and new dates are under consideration within the context of the Metropolitan Municipality's Muradian Cultural Area Project. In the year 2003, exterior renovation works were accomplished, with a commitment to complete the entire project by 2007 under the Factory-i Humayun Restoration Program. The site features a combined area totaling around four thousand square meters, consisting of four different structures. Out of these four buildings, only two are preserved until now. A design prepared and validated by engineers was submitted for approval before turning it into a fully-functional youth center. Along with creating various sections like large libraries and cafeterias, they also plan to turn historical sites into multi-purpose venues, complete with a grand cafeteria area inside the building.
