Faceted 50 States Shapes
thingiverse
For a long time, I've been itching to create a beautiful piece of wall art that showcases the state where my friend resides. Not only did I want it to look stunning, but I also hoped she'd be eager to display it proudly in her apartment. To achieve this, I decided to create an outline of the state and add a textured pattern on top, which would not only make it visually appealing but also give it a unique character. Despite running into some obstacles along the way, I'm thrilled with how it turned out. To ensure it prints well on most printers, I designed it to be flexible in terms of scale, and I personally printed mine at 80% capacity. If you're looking for a more topographical map effect, try adjusting your layer height to .2 or .3 - this will give it a deeper, more dimensional look. Conversely, if you prefer a flatter appearance, feel free to use .1. Keep in mind that I didn't intend for these pieces to be assembled into a complete map; rather, they're meant to be displayed individually. In fact, my ultimate goal is to create all 50 states, so stay tuned for future updates! If you'd like me to prioritize one state over another, simply let me know in the comments. I'm using Protopasta filaments for this project - if you're interested in learning more about them, I've included a link below.
