Facemask port for blowhose
thingiverse
I designed this reusable port for facemasks that allows attachment of a 1/4" blow hose/swivel to the mask. It's perfect for glassblowing/flameworking, especially in group studios where face masks are required due to COVID-19. I use this design myself and it works well on various types of masks. To attach the port, make a 1/4" hole in the mask by marking the spot while wearing the mask and then creating the hole after removing it. If your mask is cotton, apply a drop of superglue around the hole to prevent fraying. Next, thread the 1/4" rubber hose through the hole and attach the inner and outer port components on either side of the mask by snapping them together. Trim the hose to a comfortable length inside the mask for ease of use. I recommend adding a 90-degree connector to keep the hose from pulling on the mask. The port and hose are printed in PLA and coated with superglue for sealing. Be sure to remove the port and hose before washing your mask. I plan to share this design freely in non-commercial venues, making it accessible to anyone who needs it, especially in educational settings.
