Face Turning Octahedron
thingiverse
I'm excited to share my FTO puzzle with you. I wouldn't recommend printing it without some TLC, as I had to spend hours sanding it to get it turning smoothly. But trust me, it's worth the effort. Not only does it work like a charm, but it's also an excellent way to learn how to make one from scratch. To create your own FTO puzzle, you'll need to print out all the necessary pieces, as indicated by their file names - TypeOfPiece_xQuantity.stl. Don't forget to print the sticker template as well, which will serve as a handy guide to help you assemble everything correctly. You'll also require 8 M3 screws to hold it all together. The FTO puzzle is essentially an octahedron with a face-turning twist, similar to a Rex cube. However, be warned that solving this one is quite different from its corner-turning cousin. The stickers don't follow the same convention, so you'll need to get familiar with the unique orientation of each piece. For instance, corners in the FTO are equivalent to centers in a Rex cube, and vice versa.
