New Approach to Face Shield Production As healthcare workers face a shortage of protective supplies, including face masks, BAHCESEHIR INTEGRA 3646 aims to make a positive contribution by developing effective and accessible solutions. We recognized that 3D printing takes a long time to produce face-shield models and is inefficient for mass production. On average, it requires at least 2 hours to print one face shield. We decided to take a new approach and designed our face shield model using Fusion360, which does not require any 3D printing steps during the production phase. The raw material we use is acetate, which provides the best clarity and tends to be the most economical option among various PVCs. Acetate sheets are die-cut in the press machine. Using this method, we can produce 8 face shields per second -which means more than 10,000 face shields can be produced within a few hours. We are donating 40,000 face shields in total to healthcare providers. 30,000 face shields will be sent to hospitals and government establishments in different cities of Turkey while 10,000 of them will be provided to dormitories, which are currently under quarantine, via AFAD. Additionally, we continue to produce 60,000 face shields. We have established connections with consulates in our country, allowing us to transmit our face shields to healthcare workers not only in Turkey but across the globe. As we send 15 printing knives to various countries, our face shields will be able to produce in those countries as well. These face shields are not a replacement for proper N95 masks but act as a physical barrier that can protect health care workers' faces from external fluids. The shields we donate were not produced in a medically sterile area and may be used at the workers' own risk.
