Face Shield
thingiverse
This is a modified part originally created by 3D Verkstan for the North American market. Update 4-7-20: A version with smaller pegs has been added to reduce tearing. Use a standard US three-hole punch and clear film for the face shield component. The best material found on the shelf is Office Depot's item 459-207, which must be glossy clear in order to see through it. Clear sheets are translucent, not transparent. These sheets are made of seven-mil PVC. Update 3/31/20: Oregon laminations offers bulk supplies of seven-mil glossy clear PVC at $13.90 per hundred sheets, available on oregonlam.com. Notes: - Print the part in PETG with 100% infill and a layer height of 0.3mm, without using a fan. - Sterilize both parts using bleach or alcohol only. - Boiling water will soften and deform the plastic. - Heat, bend, and cool the headband to achieve a customized fit. Punching the face shield: - Use a standard US three-hole punch. 1. Mark the center of the sheet at 5-1/2 inches along the long side (small mark). 2. Make marks one-half inch from the center mark on each side (front knubs are one inch apart). 3. Line up the center hole of the three-hole punch with one of the offset marks and punch. 4. Flip the clear sheet over and punch the other offset mark. 5. Round off the corners of the opposite edge or have the user trim it to fit. The fit will be very tight, so adjust your hole punch spacing if necessary. Pre-punch face shields. Donate both components unassembled (compact) sealed with instructions to sterilize them prior to use, not with heat!
