Face shield visor NHS Southampton General compatible
thingiverse
Hi all, an important update is below. This design fits perfectly onto existing clear visor sheets used at the UK Southampton General Hospital and has been officially approved for use by the head of PPE. NHS staff bring these into hospitals to clean before use. I've been printing these as quickly as possible, with a team now working together, and funding for materials is available if you can contribute. Visit gf.me/u/xt977m to learn more. To complete the visor, we have 12,000 clear sheets available, which you can receive to finish yourself. The hole pattern measures 85x75x85mm, but note that this is not a standard hole punch distance (80mm). We've encountered some quality issues when people first start printing these designs. Two major problems are underextruding and choosing the right material. To help resolve these issues from the start, consider the following points. 1) We print in PLA as standard; if you're using PETG, please switch to an STL with thicker arms, courtesy of David Henderson. 2) Set your flow rate to 110% or higher to ensure wall lines merge into a solid wall. If you see gaps, it's not good enough. 3) Set wall overlap to 10%, which should also help with the above issue. 4) Use settings: 4x 0.4mm walls (or equivalent), 1.2mm bottom and top, and no infill is needed. A GCODE file for a standard Anycubic i3 Mega printer is now available, optimized for PLA and may work on the Mega S as well. It prints in just 50 minutes. A STEP file is also available for those who want it. Thanks to everyone involved, especially Josef.
