Let's Give Key Workers and Health Professionals the Best Protection Possible with 3D-Printed Face Shields. Inspired by Prusa's Solution to Create Protective Face Shields This design is a direct adaptation from Prusa's solution, which can be found at https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/25857-protective-face-shield-rc1. Process for Creating 3D-Printed Face Shields: **Step 1: Print the Frame** Print the frame of the face shield using a 3D printer. **Step 2: Attach Shield Material** Attach a PVC, PETG, or Poly carbon shield to the frame. You can also use conventional transparent A4 foil used as a book cover. **Step 3: Add Holes and Strap** Use a conventional hole punch to create four holes in the shield material. To ensure correct spacing, set the hole punch to A6 and punch two holes from one side, then turn the sheet over and punch the remaining two holes from the other side. Attach a rubber band or strap to the side fixture. Manufacturing Guidelines for Others: When manufacturing face shields for others, take necessary precautions to minimize risk of transmission: ***Wear Protective Gear** Act as if you were infected by the COVID-19 virus. Wear a face mask and gloves when collecting each batch of printed parts, and store them in sealable bags immediately. ***Communicate with Recipients** Talk with whoever you're making the shields for and inform them about your manufacturing environment to ensure they take necessary precautions. ***Minimize Cross Contamination** Store the face shields for 2-3 days before distributing them to minimize risk of transmission. Do not store the entire stock in one place to prevent cross contamination. By following these guidelines, you can create safe and effective face shields for key workers and health professionals during this critical time.
