Face Shield (Covid 19 non-certificated)
thingiverse
Hey There! This is Piyush Dhapodkar. I'm a Mechanical Design Engineer with 5 years of experience in 3D printing. When I learned about the shortage of protective materials for medical staff in my area, I knew I had to act fast. Facial shields were desperately needed. I designed several variants for mass production and chose injection molding to speed up production. My concepts caught the attention of a manufacturer who decided to keep some of them aside. I'm excited to share this design with you because it's incredibly practical. The model has been thoroughly tested by doctors, ensuring its effectiveness. Here's how to assemble the shield: 1. Mark the center of the sheet. 2. Punch 4 holes at once using a punching machine, marking 80mm from the center. 3. Assemble the punched sheet onto the body. For sheets below 125 microns, assembly is easy; above 175 microns may require some force to snap into place. 4. Use any rubber band or elastic band for added security. Local doctors are using cheap and readily available rubber hair bands. The model consists of a single piece that can be created from any A3 or A4 sheet. It's easy to sanitize and assemble. Injection-molded variant tooling is nearly complete, so feel free to reach out if you're interested in bulk quantities. The design will differ from this prototype.
