Face Mask with Replaceable Filter Element Designed for Sanitation by Replacing Used Filter, Washing Housing, and Installing New 40 mm Filter Element. The Mask can be Printed on Basic Home Type FDM 3-D Printers Using Four Primary 3D-Printed Parts: Mask Body, Filter Housing, Filter Retaining Screw Cap & Filter Retaining Plate, and Four Snap-in Elastic Band Adjusters. These parts are Intended to be Printed from Common PLA with No Support, No Brim, or Raft. The Primary Parts should be Placed so their Largest Flat Surface Faces Against the Print Table. Additionally, Four Snap-in Adjusters Need to be Printed as a Separate Job. Required Materials for Each Unit Include One 40mm Circular Filter Element and Two Pieces of ¾ inch Wide Elastic Band. The Filter Housing is Designed to be Glued to the Mask Body using Methylene Chloride and Solvent Weld. A Small Amount should be Applied to Each Surface to be Joined, and then Carefully Aligned and Pressed Together Firmly for a Few Seconds. A Preferred Filter Material would be Non-woven Sheet Polyester with 0.5 Micron (or Smaller) Rating Materials. One Example of this Material can be Found on Amazon at https://www.amazon.com/Polyester-Filter-Media-Fabric-Sheets/dp/B074FT85MW Alternatively, Filter Material may be Sourced from a Good Quality Surgical Mask and Cut to Size by Hand. Straps for the Wearer's Head are Intended to be Made from ¾ “ Wide Elastic Band. When Woven Through the Elastic Band Adjusters, it Should be Simple to Adjust Fit by Pulling on the Tag End of the Elastic Band. Heating the Clip to 130 to 140 Degrees Fahrenheit will Allow it to be Formed to Fit Each Individual. If Printed from Standard PLA, it is a Simple Task to Custom Adjust the Fit of the Mask Body to the Individual Wearer by Heating the Area to be Adjusted to 130 to 140 Degrees Fahrenheit Using Hot Water or a Hair Dryer. Be Careful Not to Burn the Intended User, and Consider Using a Handkerchief Between the Mask and Skin While Forming to Prevent Burns.
